What is the different between Moderate Fit Tip and Tight Fit Tip

Updated on: April 19, 2021

Moderate Fit Tip
This version is designed mainly to protect the power port of the device. The power port of the device will be broken, won’t work properly if the magnetic tip is tightly fit in with the power port of the device, and need much force to plug/unplug it to/from the device. So the Moderate Fit version is a little bit loose, so that it’s easily unplugged from the power port of the device by pulling straight it. In this way, there is no effect on the power port. The Moderate Fit version is good for the backers who want to protect the power port of the device and don’t want to pay money to repair it. Just note that you still can unplug the cable from the device safely by pulling it up, down, left or right.

Furthermore, the design of USB-C standard and the design of Lightning standard are different. Specifically, the USB-C standard is designed with the male part is on the device, and the female part is on the cable, if the female part on the cable is designed to hold the female part on the device is too tight, when it needs a great deal of force pulled out the cable, this action can damage or break the male part on the device after a short period of time. In the case of the Lightning standard, the male part is designed on the cable, so it won’t damage the female part on the device easily.

So that also the reason why the USB-C tip is designed to fit the device moderately so that it is not falling apart from the device if you don’t intend to pull it out. To avoid pull it out when disconnecting the cable from the tip, you just need to pull the cable right / left / up / down as the clip HERE, by this way, the power port of your device won’t be damaged/broken after a short period of time.

Tight Fit Tip
this version is designed to tightly fit in with the power port of the device. But it needs much force to plug and unplug the magnetic tip from the power port of the device, it means, this action will affect the quality of the power port of the device. And this could make the power port of the device broken and the owner must pay money to repair the device.

Conclusion
So, with the Moderate Fit tip, you won’t worry about paying money to repair the power port of your device. One little disadvantage here is to unplug the cable, you need to pull the cable left, right, up, or down. In our opinion, this behavior is acceptable.
